I would like to begin a series of posts on Mormonism. In light of Mit Romney running for President of the United States, we are hearing more and more about Mormonism on the news and I think it would be a great time to help bring to light to damning doctrine of this false religion.
Mormons use a lot of the same "Christian" terminology, so you have to be very careful when speaking with them as to not let them make you believe they share the same beliefs as a true follower of the Jesus Christ of the New Testament.
Before I begin with this first post, I would like to say that we need to pray for our Mormon friends. They are deceived and have a need for God to open their eyes. They do not worship the Jesus Christ of the Bible and are staking their eternity on the claims of a false prophet. They carry a great burden upon their backs and should be lifted up in prayer that Almighty God would open their eyes and reveal Himself to them in all His glory, lest they continue to be deceived by the father of lies, satan.
Who is Jesus?
- Mormonism: According to the LDS Gospel Principles manual, all people are spirit brothers and sisters, everyone who has ever lived. Jesus Christ is our “big brother”; He was the first born of our “Heavenly parents”. We needed a savior to save us from our sins so we can return to our “Heavenly Father”. When our Father asked who would go, Jesus said “send me” (Abraham 3:27). Lucifer (Jesus’ brother) said “send me”, but our Heavenly Father said, “I will send the first.” (Abraham 3:27). Lucifer was angered by this and rebelled.
- The Bible: Jesus is the Almighty Creator of all, including the angels. (Colossians 1:16). Jesus has also eternally been God while Joseph Smith teaches that Jesus had to “achieve” godhood. According to the Bible, Jesus Christ was God in the flesh, a co-equal, uncreated. Jesus created all things, including satan, for His ultimate glory. Jesus is God and satan is a creature.
a. Jesus created all things! (John 1:3 and
